Silver State Stampede Results 2009

PRCA events:
All event winners receive Garcia spurs.  In addition, the winner of the saddle bronc riding receives a miniature bronc saddle made by Bill Maupin.  The all-around winner receives a gold watch donated by Chip Stone of Stonecraft Jewelers.

Bareback Riding

Old West Bronc Riding- Troy Van Norman Memorial:
 
This year, each Old West Bronc Riding contestant rode two horses, and go-round winners were paid as well as the average (overall event) winner.
 
Go-round money paid $750 for first, $375 for second, $200 for third, and $100 for fourth. 

First go round placed as follows:  1st  John Wright, 2nd/3rd Victor Madrigal/Monte Greene, 4th/5th  Chris Laucomer/Jake McKay.
 
Second go round placed as follows:  1st  Chris Baird, 2nd Nathan Kelly Jr, 3rd Jack Payne, 4th Moe Star.

The average paid $2750 for first, $1625 for second, $800 for third, and $250 for fourth.  Prizes were also donated for the average (overall event) winners.  Results follow:

1st  John Wright (Elko, Nevada)--in addition to prize money, won a buckle donated by Skyline Silversmiths and Garcia spurs by JM Capriola Co.  Wright also won a pair of custom handmade boots by Kelly Martin for having the highest score of the event, with 80 points.
 
2nd  Chris Baird(Battle Mountain, Nevada) (2006 and 2008 Old West Bronc Riding Champion)--in addition to prize money, won a handmade mecate donated by Tracy Sue Bruce, and a custom metal art sign by Cade Lindquist.
 
3rd  Victor Madrigal (Beatty, Oregon)--in addition to prize money, won a pair of custom chinks by Amanda Lewis and a bedroll quilt by Timmy Lyn DeLong, Samme Engleson, and Christy Stanton.
 
4th  Chris Laucomer (Scottsbluff, Nebraska)--prize money only


2008 Silver State Stampede Results

The results of the PRCA events are as follows:

Bareback riding: Colton Bair 80 points

Tie-down roping Jesse Loveless 9.5 seconds

Saddle bronc riding Wyatt Smith 80 points

Steer wrestling Lex Smith 4.9 seconds

Team roping Matt Losee/Trent Clement 5.5 seconds

Barrel racing Megan McLeod 17.35 seconds

Bull riding Dwayne Hargo 76 points

All-around champion Lex Smith

Event winners receive Garcia spurs, in addition to purse money. The Silver State Stampede is the only professional rodeo to offer Garcia spurs as prizes. Additional prizes include a hand-crafted miniature bronc saddle made by Bill Maupin for the saddle bronc winner, Montana Silversmiths jewelry donated by Lois Lacaillade for the barrel racing winner, and a watch donated by Chip Stone for the all-around champion.

2008 World Championship Old West Bronc Riding
second overall was Monte GreeneIn its sixth year, the World Championship Old West Bronc Riding was a big success with a total of 37 entries. Tying for first in the elimination round were Chris Baird of Battle Mountain and Ira Wines of Tuscarora with scores of 74.

Baird and Wines both receive a pair of custom handmade boots by Kelly Martin of Battle Mountain in addition to purse money.

Tying for second in the elimination round were Daniel Richards of Murphy, Idaho and Monte Greene of Battle Mountain with scores of 73. In addition to purse money, Richards received handmade western pillows donated by Shar Peterson. Greene will receive a custom handmade mecate donated by Tracy Sue Bruce.

The top 13 riders of the elimination round rode a second time on Saturday night, and the overall event winners were determined by the combined total score on two head. The 2006 champion, Chris Baird, took the title home again after scoring 77 in the short-go for a total of 151 on two head. Baird received a Skyline Silversmiths buckle in addition to prize money.

Taking second overall was Monte Greene, with a score of 76 in the short-go for a combined total of 149 on two head. Greene received prize money, a bedroll quilt made by Timmy Lyn DeLong, Samme Engelson, and Christy Stanton, and will receive custom handmade chinks donated by Amanda Lewis.

Daniel Richards took third overall, and 2004 champion Jack Payne of Jordan Valley, Oregon, took 4th.

 

2007 Old West Bronc Riding Winner:  Matt Morrison (middle), being presented his trophy buckle from Skyline Silversmiths, his Western Horseman bronze, and a quilt made and donated by Timmy Lyn DeLong, Christy Stanton, and Samme Engelson. He also has a certificate for a pair of handmade custom boots by Kelly Martin.
